Parma yesterday overtook Cagliari in the race to land Sebastiano Esposito, the striker currently on his way out of Inter, but that wasn't the final word. The player himself has the final say, and according to this afternoon's news, he's determined to reiterate his preference for the Rossoblu and secure a successful deal. Sporting director Guido Angelozzi is counting on this, refusing to participate in any auctions—as he did in the last two seasons with Matteo Prati and Gianluca Gaetano—and is confident he can close the deal on his terms.
Cagliari's initial offer to Inter was a loan with an option to buy set at €6 million (achievable with bonuses, starting from €5 million) or a loan with an obligation to buy (around €6 million) contingent on appearances and goals . The Nerazzurri are interested in cashing in immediately, especially since Esposito has been on loan continuously since the 2020-2021 season and because the striker has one year remaining on his contract, which expires on June 30, 2026. Therefore, a permanent deal could be agreed with a percentage of the player's future resale value .
Parma's offer, on the other hand, is around €4 million plus 50% of the player's future resale value, thus lowering the fixed fee and potentially generating future revenue for Inter, in addition to being a permanent transfer . If Esposito, who hasn't yet made a final decision, were to express his openness to the Gialloblu, the deal would be concluded for Cagliari, but for now his intention is to move to Sardinia.
In recent weeks, Esposito had expressed interest in the Cagliari project and the possibility of joining Fabio Pisacane's squad . He's now confirming this interest, despite Parma's offer. For the deal to go through, both financial and player transfers will be necessary. So far, no suitable offers have been received for any of the potential departures .
