The center-left rejected, with the Democratic Party not exceeding 20 percent, and the Five Stars reaching 15 percent.

Meloni could therefore be the first woman at Palazzo Chigi, her name that should be called to form a government with the other leaders of the coalition because the agreement was clear: whoever takes more preferences chooses the prime minister. Always considering that there is still to be clarified what the position of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will be in the national interest.

The League recorded a collapse, falling below 10 percent, and the combined Action-Italia Viva of Calenda and Renzi stopped at just over 7 percent.
