A splendid feat by Sardinian volleyball player Alessia Orro and her Italian volleyball teammates, who won the World Championship in Thailand, bringing the world title back home after 23 years.

In the final in Bangkok , Julio Velasco 's national team beat Turkey 3-2 , at the end of a hard-fought and challenging match.

The Italians won the first set (25-22) , collapsed in the second (13-25) and in the third – very close – they redeemed themselves (26-24), also thanks to the usual, extraordinary Paola Egonu . In the fourth set , however, the Turks coached by Santarelli prevailed (19-25) led by the champion Vargas .

Just like in the semi-final against Brazil , the match went to a tie break : another thrilling set, with Orro the protagonist alongside Sylla, at the end of which the Italians triumphed: 15-8.

Then the big celebration (with Alessia – awarded as MVP of the tournament – who did not fail to show the flag with the 4 Moors during the national anthem ), for a victory – yet another for this applauded team – that will remain in history.
