Tomorrow morning Patrick Zaki will be in Bologna , he will take a scheduled flight to Milan and from there the train to the city that hosted him for a long time before his arrest in Egypt.

“I'll be in Italy for only two weeks. I will meet my friends, my professors, all the people I miss in Italy. Then I will go back to Egypt to get married (the wedding is scheduled for September, ed), and after the wedding I will certainly return to Italy to resume my studies and my life in Bologna », said the Egyptian researcher, who yesterday left the New Mansura police building as a result of the presidential pardon granted by Al Sisi after his sentence to three years in prison for "dissemination of false news".

«The nice thing – he added – is that now I am free to go to Bologna, to go back to Egypt, to do whatever I want, in complete freedom. Tuesday (the day of the sentence, ed) was a nightmare, I'm surprised to be here. Really happy to finally be free, and I have to thank the Italian government for that ».

In the meeting with Ambassador Quaroni, the researcher expressed "great appreciation" for the government's work and in particular for the personal commitment of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
