Official visit to Beijing for US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The head of US diplomacy met with the highest authorities of the People's Republic of China, including President Xi Jinping.

Xi and Blinken met in the Great Hall of the People and according to Chinese state media reports, the face-to-face encounter would have brought about "progress" in relations between the two powers, which would have identified a "common ground" on some specific points .

Blinken's visit comes at a time of great tension between Washington and the Asian country, both for mutual positions towards Russia in the war against Ukraine and for the Taiwan issue.

Regarding the latter, during his conversation with Blinken, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated that Beijing "is not willing to make any compromises".
