The sighting of "several large drones" forced the closure of Munich Airport on Thursday evening.
According to German press reports, "these were probably five or six winged drones with a diameter of about one meter." One reportedly had a "wide wingspan." Police responded quickly to the scene, but the flying objects "had already disappeared." Furthermore, it is emphasized that their origin is unknown.
Another sighting of around fifteen drones occurred last night over the Elsenborn military area in Belgium. These incidents "demonstrate once again that the entire EU is at risk," said European Commission Defence spokesperson Thomas Regnier in his daily press briefing. He emphasized that Brussels is in contact with member states and "it is up to them to conduct the investigations" to identify the origin and responsibility behind the suspicious aircraft's incursions into European airspace.
