The Russian armed forces launched a new massive attack on the energy infrastructure of western and southern Ukraine during the night between Friday and Saturday. This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy.

“The Ukrenergo plants in the Zaporizhia and Lviv regions were damaged,” the ministry said, specifying that two employees were injured.

Following the raids, over 20 thousand users were left without power in various regions. Problems with gas distribution were also recorded in the Volyn region. The regions of Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Ivano-Frankivsk were particularly affected.

This is the eighth attack on Ukrainian power plants in the last three months, which has forced the imposition of frequent power outages.

Russia has destroyed half of Ukraine's energy capacity, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, who last Thursday called for the installation of solar panels and energy storage units "in every school and every hospital, as soon as possible." to address energy shortages.
