At least five people were killed and 130 injured by a tornado that struck part of the village of Rio Bonito do Iguaçu in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná yesterday.

Local authorities announced the news. According to images released by the media, the wind overturned several cars and destroyed entire homes in the municipality located about 300 kilometers from the famous Iguazu Falls. State Governor Ratinho Junior announced that "security forces are on high alert and monitoring the towns affected by the violent storms."
