Gender reveal parties are now in fashion, but the one that has made animal rights activists (and others) furious in New York is decidedly sui generis.

A couple painted a dove with pink paint to reveal the sex of their baby. The bird immediately fell ill and died a few days later .

The dove painted with paint was found by a group of volunteers in a park in Manhattan: it immediately appeared in distress, intoxicated by the dye , and a few days later, despite treatment, died.

“We are deeply saddened to report that Flamingo has passed away. Despite our best efforts to reduce fumes from dyeing. We hope that the story of his too short life will help prevent other acts of negligent cruelty », the volunteers of the Wild Bird Fund wrote on social networks, who had rescued the dove and tried in every way to remove the dye.

The police are now investigating the matter to trace the culprits.
