They are accused of extracting healthy teeth from over 300 patients, and now face up to 10 years in prison.

The trial of the "horror dentists", 41-year-old Lionel Guedj and his 70-year-old father Jean-Claude Guedj, opened amid insults in Marseille. The two are accused of having practiced unnecessary medical treatment with the sole purpose of earning more money.

The work, it was also reported in court, was carried out, among other things, with great speed by the dentist, who was thus able to visit up to 70 people a day.

The patients were mainly low-income people, who could take advantage of social security and therefore did not dare to oppose the prescriptions of the specialist. Even when the doctor said that despite the appearance all the teeth were in bad condition.

The two doctors are also on trial for "insurance fraud, falsification of radiographs, false diagnosis and double billing" for acts committed between 2006 and 2012.

To date, the two have amassed a fortune of 12 million euros, which includes luxury cars, yachts, paintings and sculptures of great value, dozens of apartments and houses and various life insurance.
