The United States Army launched a long-range nuclear missile .
The test, defined as routine and aimed at "proving that the US nuclear arsenal is ready" , was announced by the Air Force Global Strike Command, as reported by CNN.
The launch took place from the Vandenberg Air Force Base, California . Tested was a Minuteman III ICBM , which traveled 6,700km above the Pacific Ocean to the Marshall Islands.
The test, according to the Air Force Global Strike Command, was canceled last August 4 when the Speaker of the US House Nancy Pelosi was visiting Taiwan to avoid an escalation with China.
