The missile attack on September 6 on a market in the city of Kostiantynivka , in the Donetsk region, which caused at least 16 deaths, including a child, was not launched by the Russians, but instead started by mistake from a territory under control of Kiev. The New York Times reports it.

«The evidence analyzed – explains the American newspaper – including missile fragments, satellite images, witness accounts and social media posts, strongly suggests that the catastrophic attack was the result of an errant Ukrainian air defense missile, launched from a Buk launch system".

Therefore, concludes the NYT, "it seems that it was a tragic accident".
