The Maine killer committed suicide.

CNN reports it: Robert Card took his own life by shooting himself in the head. His body was found in the woods, not far from Lewiston where he had carried out the massacre, killing 18 people and wounding 13.

Not far from the body is the recycling center where the army reservist worked and where he had been fired. A personal situation aggravated by the end of a romantic relationship.

Card had opened fire in the places he frequented with his ex, the bowling alley and a restaurant.

After the massacre he ran away: the police searched for him incessantly for 48 hours, with 350 agents and investigators at work.

Thousands of people in Lewiston were stuck indoors until news of the body's discovery.
