One of the two regent captains of San Marino is in trouble.

Giacomo Simoncini (center left), one of the two heads of state of the Republic of Titano, is accused of sexual harassment by an employee of the Palazzo Pubblico.

According to what has been reconstructed, the alleged victim had been summoned to Simoncini's office: as soon as she entered she found the Regent intent on fumbling with the broken zipper of his trousers, insisting that she take care of it. Except then get naked completely.

The employee would first turn to an employee of the Regency, then to a lawyer who would inform the judiciary unofficially by announcing the presentation of a complaint the day after April 1, the day in which for Simoncini, in office together with Regent Francesco Mussoni (Christian Democracy), will expire the semester of regency with the election of two new heads of state. Even before the State Court, the matter should be dealt with by the Syndicate of the Regency, a sort of people's court established in 1499 and which provides that three days before the end of the mandate citizens can expose complaints and complaints against the heads of State.

"Gender-based violence and sexual harassment are not ridiculous, as is often led to believe - writes the San Marino Women's Union in a note - they are abuses of power that determine even heavy traumatic consequences on the victim, they are aberrant actions that testify to the complete lack of respect for the body and the person of the woman, and which, as such, must be punished with the utmost severity, once ascertained. San Marino - concludes the UDS - is among the countries that have signed the Istanbul Convention, establishing minimum standards for governments in Europe in preventing, protecting and condemning violence against women and domestic violence. It is time for the country and its institutions to demonstrate that they take the seriousness of gender-based violence seriously, because we are tired of undergoing it ".
