Hezbollah is at war against the Zionist occupier. This was said by Hassan Nasrallah , leader of the Lebanese political and paramilitary organisation, in an eagerly awaited public speech on the occasion of the "Festival of the martyrs fallen on the road to Jerusalem", in reference to the approximately 60 Hezbollah fighters killed from 8 October to today in the clashes with the Israeli army in southern Lebanon.

Thousands of people in the squares in Lebanon and also in Iraq listened to the speech by the Hezbollah leader, delivered from an unspecified location and broadcast live on TV. The images of the people gathered together listening in religious silence are shown on television alternating with those of the leader speaking.

" Our battle is fully legitimate, from a legal and religious point of view, against the Zionist occupier ," he said.

Nasrallah “blesses” the Hamas attack on October 7 but denies any involvement of Hezbollah: « The sacred and great operation of October 7 was the result of a decision taken 100% by the Palestinians. The decision was not shared with other factions of the Islamic resistance. They decided and executed."

Again: «Our duty today is to give everything, to believe in this call and to give everything, we are ready to sacrifice » because in Gaza «a decisive battle is being fought, like it has never been fought before». The victims of Gaza, he added, "are all martyrs, they are moving towards another world enunciated by the prophets, now they are there where there are no dictatorships and there are no Zionists".

The Palestinian people have suffered for "decades" and suffer even more now that "in Israel there is a right-wing government that is violating human rights" .

For Nasrallah before October 7 «there were four urgent issues on the Palestinian front. The thousands of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons; the issue of the al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem ; the siege of Gaza for almost twenty years; the dangers facing the West Bank, including Israeli settlements and daily killings and arrests . All these problems - said Nasrallah - were pressing for the Palestinians and their resistance before October 7th."

«Israel – he continues – is not a state capable of standing on its own. When we see American generals rush to Israel and open US weapons depots for the Israeli army and we see Israel ask, from day one, for 10 billion dollars... Would this be a country capable of standing on its own? Then the attack against the USA, "responsible for the crimes perpetrated by Israel in Gaza" .
