Off to the European Parliament to commemorate the death of the president, David Sassoli.

In Strasbourg, for the occasion, several premieres and presidents of national parliaments from all over Europe were present. For Italy, in addition to Enrico Letta who will give the official speech in the Chamber, there are the Prime Minister Mario Draghi, the Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and the Minister for European Affairs Enzo Amendola.

At the opening of the ceremony, the welcome by the interim president, Roberta Metsola and the screening of a video with the most beautiful images of the Sassoli presidency. Soon after, Letta will give the official commemoration speech of her party colleague.

Sebastian Bach's suite 4 is the first musical interlude, followed by tributes from the President of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the EU Council Charles Michel and the President of France Emmanuel Macron.

The Hymn to Joy by Ludwig van Beethoven, together with the tributes of the various political groups, at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Present were Sassoli's wife and children, as well as various heads of government and presidents of European parliaments. Among the premieres, the Luxembourgish Xavier Bettel, the Greek Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Croatian Andrej Plenković and the Maltese Robert Abela confirmed their presence. Among the presidents of the Chambers of the Old Continent are the Belgian Eliane Tillieux, Jüri Ratas from Estonia, the Cypriot Annita Demetriou, the Lithuanian Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Meritxell Batet from Spain and Ināra Mūrniece from Latvia. Also present at the ceremony were the president of the EU Court of Justice Koen Lenaerts and the number one of the BEI, Werner Hoyer.
