The twenty-one Italians arrested last night at Athens' Eleftherios Venizelos international airport are CasaPound militants. According to the Kathimerini website, they had arrived in the Greek capital to participate in the far-right rally scheduled for today to commemorate the death of two militants of the now dissolved neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party, which occurred on November 1, 2013.

Among the people who ended up in handcuffs there is also Gianluca Iannone, president of CasaPound.

The far-right organization commented on the incident via its Telegram channel. "It is unacceptable that over 20 people are arbitrarily stopped and arrested as soon as they get off a plane just for wanting to participate in the commemoration of two boys murdered in cold blood." And again: «The police intervention was arbitrary and devoid of any sense, with a disproportionate deployment of agents and certainly this unjustified repression will not prevent us from commemorating two boys barbarically killed in cold blood».
