"A first group of 26 Italian citizens who were on the Flotilla are about to leave Israel on a charter flight . We've put them on a Turkish flight to Istanbul. They've already been transferred to Ramon Air Base and will depart from Eilat Airport."
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced this, specifying that another 15 Italians remain in the Israeli prison of Ketziot . It is not known whether Sardinian journalist Emanuela Pala is among the 26 released; her family is awaiting communication from the Farnesina .
Those who remain, Tajani explained, have refused to sign the voluntary release form and "will have to wait for judicial expulsion, which will take place next week."
Pala's family is concerned because they don't know what they were asked to sign, and, depending on its content, they don't know what the journalist might have decided. According to what was learned yesterday, Israel is asking them to sign a self-declaration admitting illegal entry into Israel. But its exact content is unclear .
"I have once again instructed the Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv to ensure that our remaining compatriots are treated in a manner respectful of their rights," Tajani wrote on his social media profiles.
