Russia has "suspended" its participation in the wheat agreement signed in July.

This was announced by Moscow, according to reports from TASS, after denouncing a "massive" attack with drones against its ships at the port of Sevastopol in the Crimea , which would have been carried out by the Ukrainians with the assistance of the British.

"Following the terrorist act carried out by the Kiev regime with the participation of British experts against ships of the Black Sea fleet and civilian ships engaged in guaranteeing the safety of the grain corridors - the Ministry of Defense said - Russia suspends the its participation in the implementation of the agreement on the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports ".

Russia, echoes the Moscow Foreign Ministry, considers the agreement suspended as of today and "indefinitely" .

London and Kiev have rejected the accusations , accusing the Russians of having used a "false pretext" to return to blackmail the world: "We had warned of Russia's plans to ruin the Black Sea cereals initiative - the comment of the Foreign Minister Ukrainian Dmytro Kuleba - Now Moscow uses a false pretext to block the grain corridor that guarantees food security for millions of people. I call on all states to ask Russia to stop playing its games with hunger and to resume compliance his obligations ".

And among the international community, starting with the UN, the alarm has gone off regarding the supply of cereals, especially to the poorest countries: "It is essential that all parties refrain from any action that could endanger the initiative. on wheat, which is a key humanitarian effort that is clearly having a positive impact on access to food for millions of people around the world, "said UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric, quoted by the Guardian.
