Russia, 30-year-old Italian arrested: he tried to enter the country with 170 grams of hashish
The substance was hidden in a box of dried fruit. Now he faces up to 20 years

A 30-year-old Italian citizen, whose name has not been released, was arrested by Russian border service officials on charges of trying to enter Russia with 170 grams of hashish.
This was announced by the Russian Customs on their Telegram channel. The man was charged with smuggling narcotics in large quantities under Article 229.1 of the Criminal Code and faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison .
The arrest, according to reports, dates back to September: the case is being followed by the Italian consulate in St. Petersburg.
The Italian was entering Russia by motorbike from the Ubylinka border crossing. When his luggage was inspected, Customs wrote, a box containing dried fruit was found inside which the hashish was hidden.
