In southern Lebanon, where the resumption of hostilities since early March has further worsened the security situation on the ground, the United Nations UNIFIL mission led by the Sassari Brigade is committed to restoring essential infrastructure, with targeted interventions on damaged roads and bridges.
In a context marked by fighting, airstrikes, and new displacements, these activities are essential to ensure not only the mobility of contingents, but also the access of humanitarian aid and workers on the ground.
Part of the operations were carried out by Italian peacekeepers from the Sassari Brigade, who intervened on various roads in the southern areas of the country to remove blockages and restore interrupted connections in numerous villages.
Most recently, Chinese peacekeepers from the mission repaired a vital bridge near Al Bayyadah that was severely damaged during the ongoing hostilities.
Where damage, including craters and collapses, prevented immediate intervention, alternative routes were created to ensure minimal access to isolated areas. Operations were conducted in close coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces and local authorities.
