French President Emmanuel Macron has filed a lawsuit against Candace Owens, a right-wing American influencer who spread a wild theory—which circulated in 2017—that Brigitte, the first lady of the Élysée Palace, was originally a man.

However, this legal action hasn't stopped Owens so far. In fact, in an episode of her podcast yesterday, she reiterated her accusations and stated that the lawsuit "is simply ridiculous: a predictable and desperate communications strategy."

Owens worked for several conservative organizations, including the student group Turning Point and the Daily Wire newspaper, before launching her podcast “Candace” in 2024.

Since then, he has spread untenable and conspiratorial theories , also insinuating that conspiracies are actually hidden behind events such as the anti-Covid vaccines, the Holocaust, and the moon landings.

Now the hoax about Brigitte Macron being born a man has been relaunched, which has led the presidential couple of Paris to sue her for defamation in the Delaware court and to demand "exemplary" compensation to be determined during the trial.
