«The Western world wants to maintain a hegemonic role, which, however, is now escaping from it». Russian President Vladimir Putin said this in his speech at the plenary session of the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.

Putin also explained how Russia managed to withstand the backlash of the sanctions imposed by Western countries after the start of the war in Ukraine and how the scenarios for the Federation's economy are rosy: «The share of exports of Russian products other than hydrocarbons will increase by two thirds by 2030", Putin said, also underlining that with its foreign partners Russia "will increase the use of national currencies for trade".

Furthermore, «supplies of high-tech finished products have increased» and soon, Putin claims, Russia and its Brics partners (Brazil, India, China and South Africa) will have completed the creation of an «independent payments system that is not subject to to political pressure and external sanctions".

The Russian military apparatus also "needs rapid technological renewal", announced the leader of Moscow in his speech in St. Petersburg.
