Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed the appointment of Andrei Belousov to the position of Defense Minister, until now held by Serghei Shoigu.

This can be read in a message on the Telegram channel of the Federation Council cited by Tass. In the previous government, Belousov held the post of first deputy prime minister. The head of the Kremlin instead asked to reconfirm Sergei Lavrov as Foreign Minister. The appointments will be submitted to the Federation Council at a meeting on May 14.

For Shoigu, according to what we learn, there would be the position of

secretary of the Russian Security Council, a role previously held by Nikolai Patrushev, now fired.
