The top step of the world podium went to Chiara Tumatis and Giovanni Cocco, Latin American dancers under 16—from Quartu and Selargius, respectively—crowned world champions in the recent competition held in Naples.
Both students at the Selargius dance school, Chiara and Giovanni are just 15 years old and have a slew of medals to their name . The latest came a few days ago with a duo performance that won over the judges. "We're proud of the result, but especially of the commitment and consistent work of the students. This is the only way to achieve success in high-level competitions," commented dance teachers Matteo Cossu and Liuda Melnyk, of The Latin Mood on Via Vienna.
For the Selargina dance school, this is yet another success in overseas competitions. "For a Sardinian, achieving the goal of participating in competitions of this level is already a great achievement, even more so when you manage to stand out among the many dancers present," say the two teachers, who have become key figures for many young students, both from Selargina and beyond.
"We teach them to dance with dedication and consistency, the same dedication that has accompanied us for years and allowed us to dance in the most prestigious theaters in the world."
Among the many, the Royal Albert Hall, where the masters and dance champions reached the quarterfinals and were awarded among the 30 best dancing couples in the world.
