North Korea today launched two short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan.

The announcement comes from the South Korean army which initially spoke of only one missile.

"Our armed forces detected two short-range ballistic missiles fired from the Junghwa area of Hwanghae province (south-central) at 7:47 (local time) towards the East Sea", said the Seoul General Staff, referring to the Sea of Japan.

The news comes days after Seoul and Washington concluded their largest joint military exercises in five years.

Pyongyang considers all these exercises as tests for the invasion and has said it considers them a practice to "occupy" North Korea.
