Nicolas Sarkozy will be released on probation starting today. The Paris Court of Appeals has ruled , granting his request for release after his detention, which began on October 21st in connection with the Libyan funds affair.

The former President of the Republic will leave Santé prison today.

The court ruled that "there is no risk of evidence tampering, pressure, or collusion (...). Pretrial detention in prison is not justified ."

The Court, however, ordered the former president to be placed under judicial surveillance, which will include a travel ban preventing him from leaving France. It also banned him from contacting Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin, who visited him in prison on October 29.
