Publication license revoked from the independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta , directed by the Nobel Peace Prize winner Dmitry Muratov .
This is what a Moscow court has established and according to what the Ria Novosti agency reports.
The decision was made at the request of the state media control agency, Roscomnadzor.
However, Novaya Gazeta had suspended publication by autonomous decision since March, denouncing pressure from the authorities for its critical position against the so-called "special military operation" in Ukraine.
In the early stages of the conflict, director Dmitry Muratov also made headlines for the decision to auction his Nobel Peace Prize medal , received in 2021, to help children displaced by war.
