The migrant issue ignites the clash between the Meloni government and President Emmanuel Macron's France.

The controversy was triggered by the case of the Ocean Viking ship of the NGO Sos Mediterranée , which instead of landing in an Italian port headed to Toulon , in the French south-east, to disembark the 230 people on board, including 57 children.

The no to the landing of Italy was defined by Paris as an "inhuman" action, while Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said she was "very affected by the aggressive reaction from France".

France which among other things - almost in retaliation - has denied the relocation of 3,500 migrants from our country, inviting other EU countries to do the same.

"I believe that two numbers are worth putting together: the Ocean Viking ship that docks in France today is the first NGO ship to ever dock in France with 230 migrants. This has generated a very harsh reaction against Italy. which brought in almost 90,000 emigrants ", insisted the number one of Palazzo Chigi.

"The issue of immigration must be addressed at the European level - reiterated Meloni - because it is not possible that the first landing place for migrants leaving Africa must always and only be Italy".
