The meningitis crisis that has been plaguing Britain for several days shows no signs of abating. The infection, which has spread rapidly among young people at some universities and schools in Kent , southern England, is reportedly leading to an outbreak that is "unprecedented" in England.
According to the latest updates reported by the UK Health Security Agency , the body responsible for monitoring national health security, the number of cases of suspected acute meningitis is continuing to rise, reaching a total of 27 possible infections , of which 15 are confirmed and 12 are still under investigation.
The death toll remains unchanged at this time; the victims are believed to be a 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, both students. There's also little good news from the health authorities, who say they " cannot yet confirm that the epidemic has been contained ."
