Deaths, injuries, thousands of arrests and complete chaos in Kazakhstan, after the exhaustion of the government, decided by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, which has not, however, appeased the anger of the population, which is giving rise to violent protests over the increase in gas prices and numerous basic necessities.

During the protests, which mainly affected Almaty, the economic capital of the state, and which targeted both Tokayev and the 81-year-old former president Nursultan Nazarbayev (considered a sort of great shadow leader with enormous power) "dozens" of protesters they were reportedly killed by the police, who spoke of repression of "extremist forces who attempted to storm the administrative buildings".

The troops of neighboring Russia also arrived to support the police forces of the former Soviet republic and the soldiers managed in a few hours to completely clear the main square of Almaty, that of the Republic, the heart of the dispute.

Other military personnel are also operating in Kazakhstan, sent, as well as from Moscow, by the other allies gathered in the CSTO association, namely Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. An armed presence - defined as a "peacekeeping force" - which is constantly monitored by the European Union.

According to Brussels, in fact, the intervention of Moscow and its allies to suppress protests in progress in the country "should respect the sovereignty and independence of Kazakhstan".

"The EU - it is added - condemns the acts of violence that took place in Almaty and deplores the loss of human life". From Brussels also an appeal for the violence to stop and an invitation to "moderation" and a "peaceful resolution" of the crisis.
