Julian Assange, held at the high security prison of Belmarsh (UK), could bargain and plead guilty to "any nonsense charge" necessary to secure his release. This was said by Labor MP Julian Hill, a member of the inter-party parliamentary delegation working for the release of Assange.

Hill is on a private visit to Great Britain where he attempted, unsuccessfully, to visit the founder of Wikileaks who has been awaiting extradition to the US since 2019.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese worked directly with US President Joe Biden for the Australian citizen's release, still to no avail, and indicated that Assange may have to accept a plea deal. According to Hill, "the reality is that Australia cannot force the United States to release him, and if they refuse to do so, no one should have to judge Assange if he chooses to bargain to end this affair", said the Labor MP. “His health continues to deteriorate and if the US refuses to do the right thing, no one should have to judge Assange if he chooses to reach an agreement. I am very concerned that there are supporters of his who would like him to continue to be a martyr rather than a free man," he added.
