Israel retaliates against Iran, in response to the massive launch of ballistic missiles carried out by Tehran on October 1st.

Explosions occurred in several areas of the country, including the capital. The Israeli army confirmed that it had carried out "precision strikes against military targets in response to months of continuous attacks" by the Islamic Republic.

For the White House, Israel's is in "self-defense" but - Washington specifies - "the United States is not participating in the operations".

For its part, the government in Tehran downplays the extent of the Jewish state's raids: "The false regime of Israel attacked parts of military centers in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam," reads a statement from the Iranian armed forces, which explains that the attack "caused limited damage" despite having been intercepted.
