The Robert Koch Institut has recorded a new record of covid infections in Germany: in 24 hours there are 52,826 positives and 294 deaths registered.

The weekly index on 100,000 inhabitants is 319.5 cases. The hospitalization rate is 4.86 hospitalized patients per 100 thousand inhabitants.

"The pandemic situation is dramatic," said Angela Merkel speaking at the conference of cities. For the virus it is "completely indifferent" whether the country has a governing government or in the full capacity of its functions. "The death toll is also appalling," he added, noting that the number of ICU patients is rising rapidly.

Even if there will be no political majority to extend the state of emergency on November 25, Merkel stressed, "there can be no doubt for me that we are in the midst of such an emergency".

RESTRICTIONS - An increasingly difficult situation, therefore, there are now many Lander who exclude the unvaccinated from restaurants, bars, clubs and cultural events. The 2G model - or the Green pass limited to vaccinated and cured - extends like wildfire in light of the numbers of this fourth wave that are becoming increasingly alarming.

In addition to Berlin, which introduced the restrictions on Monday, and Saxony, which led the way, the squeeze for no vax took effect yesterday in Bavaria, kicked off today in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Saturday in Hamburg, and was also announced in North Rhine-Westphalia for next week.

The situation remains particularly serious in Saxony (where the weekly incidence has soared to 759.3), in Thuringia and Bavaria, where it remains above 500, and regional administrators have repeatedly warned that the health system is almost at the limit.

Saxony has therefore decided to extend 2G to retail stores as well, excluding only supermarkets and drugstores.

Currently 67.6% of the population is vaccinated in Germany, 70.1% have received the first dose and 4 million people have undergone the third.
