The Omicron variant makes the contagion curve skyrocket across Europe.

Record after record, not only in Italy. On Christmas day, France for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic exceeded 100,000 new cases per day, according to the transalpine health authorities.

To be precise, 104,611 infections were detected in 24 hours according to the data published by the French public health agency. An unprecedented figure, with a doubling of infections within three weeks, if we consider that the threshold of 50 thousand cases had been exceeded on 4 December.

The victims in 24 hours are 84, more than 95 thousand deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. Instead, the situation in intensive care departments is starting to get worrying: there are 3,282 patients in intensive care, practically triple those we have in Italy.
