Forests are burning in Canada, where around one hundred forest fires have forced the province of Alberta to declare a state of emergency and evacuate around 25,000 residents .

Governor Danielle Smith spoke of an "unprecedented" situation.

The authorities have asked thousands of people to be ready to leave at any moment: "We have declared a provincial state of emergency to preserve the safety, health and well-being of the inhabitants of Alberta," added Smith.

The cause of forest fires is to be connected "to a hot and dry spring and with lots of firewood, a few sparks are enough to start truly frightening fires ".

About 122,000 hectares were burned down , the state of emergency - Smith clarified - gives the provincial government "greater powers to respond to extreme situations, including the mobilization of additional resources and the release of emergency funds".
