A 39-year-old Italian-Israeli reservist in the Israeli army, Rafael Kauders, was killed following a Hezbollah attack in northern Israel.

«I have just spoken to the family – announced Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on X – active in the Italian community in Israel, to express condolences on behalf of the entire Government».

The Kauders family was originally from Milan and had moved to Israel many years ago. Rafael Kauders - according to what we learned - was married and the father of 4 children. He lived in Zur Hadassa, near Jerusalem. An aunt, Bianca Kauders, was killed in a Palestinian bombing in June 2003 in Jerusalem.

Kauders was on army recall duty in Kurfeish in northern Israel and belonged to Battalion 5030 of the Alon Brigade. He died after being injured by the fall of an explosive drone launched by Hezbollah in Lebanon. The funeral will take place today in Jerusalem.
