France in shock over what happened in Alfortville, in the suburbs of Paris, where a 41-year-old man, already known to justice for serious acts of family violence, turned himself in to the police after killing his three daughters, who were between 4 and 11 years.

After the confession, the police went to his house on the outskirts of the French capital and discovered the 3 lifeless bodies of the little girls.

According to initial findings, two were killed with a knife and their bodies were under a blanket. The third was lying on a sofa.

In April 2021, the man was sentenced to 18 months in prison for "aggravated family violence", 12 of which were suspended, for repeatedly beating his partner with a stick and in the presence of the girls.

He had served his sentence and was freed and as of August 28th he was no longer on probation.

According to sources in the investigation, there was an alternating custody agreement for the girls between the infanticide and his wife, who were separated.

The man explained to the officers that he did not know where the girls' mother was currently located.
