What has been dubbed "the serial killer next door" was arrested in New York.

This is Kevin Gavin, 66, and for years he sowed death in the “Woodson House” social housing complex, inhabited mainly by the elderly and located in one of the most deprived areas of the Brooklyn neighborhood, always managing to get away with it. At least until now.

At least three confirmed victims: Myrtle McKinney, 82, killed in her apartment with a stab in the throat in 2015; Jacolia James, 83, strangled in a building corridor in 2019; and the latest victim, Juanita Caballero, 78, found lifeless in her home with the phone cord wrapped around her neck.

However, the police investigations continue and the suspected cases that could be attributed to the 66-year-old are others. Among these, the one relating to the death of the 80-year-old Henry Higgins, found a corpse with signs of violent beatings on the body.

Gavin's arrest triggered a series of controversies, with the police and city authorities at the center, accused by many of having never supervised and never adequately investigated what was happening inside Woodson House.
