A year after the restrictive law against abortion in Poland came into force, another woman fell victim to the right denied, reigniting protests in the country.

The online Guardian reports this. According to the family's complaint, the young Agnieszka T., 37, died from doctors' refusal to operate after the death of one of the twin fetuses she was pregnant with during the first trimester of her pregnancy.

The procedure was postponed until the death of the second fetus, which arrived a week later, while the woman died a month after hospitalization, on 21 December last. The family claims that the woman died of septicemia.

"This is proof that the current government has bloody hands," the family wrote on Facebook as the hospital defended itself, claiming "it did everything to save it".

The Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation into the episode and the news of the death inflamed the streets, a torchlight procession was held in memory of the victim this week. Further protests are planned in Częstochowa, the city in southern Poland where the victim, mother of three, came from.

"We continue to protest that no one else dies," Marta Lempart, organizer of the demonstrations, told Polish media. "The anti-abortion law kills. Another person died because the necessary medical procedures were not carried out on time," the woman complains.
