"Whereas discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been escalated to the highest levels of Iranian leadership and approved, I, as President of the United States of America, have canceled the strikes and bombings against Iran scheduled for this evening," US President Donald Trump announced on Truth, adding that "the discussions and final points have been approved, both conceptually and in detail, by all parties involved, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and others."
In the past few hours, Trump had threatened new, "major" attacks against Iran and the seizure of control of its oil and gas industries.
According to the announcement, the naval blockade of Hormuz will remain fully in effect until the agreement is finalized, with the date and place of signing to be announced later.
