The man who attacked and killed a person and injured several officers in Mulhouse, eastern France, with a knife in his hand, has been arrested . According to initial information from the prosecutor's office, the attacker was already listed as a person at risk of terrorism.

Witnesses said the attacker shouted “Allah u Akbar” before attacking. Among the wounded, one police officer was hit in the carotid artery and another in the chest. Three other officers were slightly injured during the attack.

The man, a 37-year-old Algerian, was already known to the police and intelligence services. He was under OQTF (obligation to leave French territory for ten years), as reported by TF1 Info.

According to the investigation, the suspect had been released from the administrative detention center in Strasbourg in June 2024 and was under house arrest. In recent days, he allegedly failed to comply with the obligation to sign in at the police station.
