The Russian escape from the mobilization of Vladimir Putin continues. The two of them even fled aboard a small boat , landing in Alaska after crossing part of the Bering Strait.

There they sought asylum from the United States. The two Russian citizens told the inhabitants of the village of Gambell, on the island of Lawrence, that they fled their country to escape the partial mobilization wanted by Vladimir Putin for the war in Ukraine.

The inhabitants of Gambell, a village with fewer than 500 residents, were incredulous when they saw them disembark . And the two told their adventure: they escaped from the city of Egvekinot, north east of Russia, and traveled to Alaska.

"They arrived on Tuesday aboard a small boat," says the Department of Homeland Security immediately alerted for their arrival. The two were then transferred to Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, for necessary checks.

Their asylum claims are currently under scrutiny, US authorities said: "Their arrival took us by surprise," Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy admitted. “ However, we do not expect a continuous flow. There are no indications in this sense ”.

The episode, explains Senator Dan Sullivan, “clearly shows two things: the first is that the Russians do not want to fight Putin's war against Ukraine . The second is that, given its proximity to Russia, Alaska plays a crucial role in US national security ”.
