" I feel better today. These have been difficult days , but at the same time, I'm optimistic and always try to see the positive in everything. I thank the Cuban doctors who, as confirmed by the Italian doctors, were very good and timely in their diagnosis and initial treatment," Alessandro Di Battista wrote on social media in the last few hours, after falling ill on Saturday, August 29 .
" I will leave Cuba on September 4th in an air ambulance ," the former Five Star Movement MP emphasized, "the costs of which will be covered by the insurance company I took out before leaving."
In recent days, two specialists from Rome's Gemelli Hospital flew to Havana , where Di Battista was transferred after his initial hospitalization in Santa Clara, and are supporting the health workers from the "Hermanos Ameijeiras" hospital. They may travel on the plane returning the former MP to Rome.
Alongside Di Battista for a couple of days now are, among others, Sahra Lahouasnia, the mother of his two children , and Luca Di Giuseppe , president of Schierarsi, the association he founded.
