Deaths and dozens missing in the collapse of a coal mine in Inner Mongolia, northern region of China.

The accident occurred yesterday: a 180-meter high slope gave way in the open pit mine in the Alxa Left Bannerm area. The search resumed today after a new landslide hindered rescue operations during the night.

At the moment there are 49 miners trapped , the provisional toll is four victims. Hundreds of rescuers are intervening on the scene of the tragedy, with excavators in action to remove the debris. The Chinese president himself, Xi Jinping, has urged the use of every possible and useful effort to save lives. The injured were transported to the hospital and are in stable condition. The cause of the accident has not yet been clarified. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
