The death of Claudio Mandia , the 17-year-old from Battipaglia (Salerno) found dead in New York while he was studying in a college, remains a mystery.
In the last few hours, new details emerge on those "unimaginable treatments", words of the family, suffered by Mandia right inside the campus, and which could have prompted him to take his own life. Because this is the hypothesis that takes hold: Claudio would have committed suicide.
According to American sources, the boy would have been particularly upset by a punishment received after copying a preparatory test in view of the final diploma: he would have been isolated for three days, with the risk of being expelled. For this reason, among the hypotheses formulated in New York and reported by the media, there is also that of suicide: it is possible that the boy did not cope emotionally. To ascertain the truth it will be necessary to know the results of the autopsy which should arrive in the next few hours.
The young man - who had been studying for two years in the exclusive international high school - died in the night between Thursday and Friday. The parents had just arrived in the US to celebrate his 18th birthday when they received the terrible news. A very first hypothesis, also based on the statements of a relative, referred to an illness. Then the note from the American lawyer who opened up new scenarios. Many hypotheses have been formulated in the last hours by the media: an extreme game, a party that ended badly, group violence. Now the suicide.
