At least six passengers were killed and five others injured (three of them in critical condition) in a fire on a bus that occurred late this afternoon in the center of Kerzers, in the Swiss canton of Fribourg.

The Freiburg police announced the incident this evening at a press conference. Four of the injured were passengers on the bus, while the fifth was a paramedic.

According to the Swiss newspaper Blick, the fire was caused by "a man who set himself on fire." A witness revealed this in a video: "He poured gasoline on himself and set himself on fire!", with other eyewitnesses reporting the same thing. These statements have not yet been confirmed by police.

The scene of the accident has been cordoned off, and police are asking the public not to go there.
