In recent days, the world of the web and social media was amazed and moved by the story of Bobi, the "oldest dog in the world" , with a tragic story behind him , who died at the age of 31.

A story - set in Portugal , where Bobi has always lived with his owner Leonel Costa - which however ended up under investigation.

This was reported by the British website The Guardian, according to which, after receiving several requests from skeptical veterinarians , in particular Danny Chambers, on behalf of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the "Guinness Book of Records" announced that it had opened a inquiry into Bobi's age.

The longevity record of the animal - which died on October 21st - was in fact validated by the Guinness Book of Records in February this year, when Bobi - an example of a rafeiro from Alentejo - would have been 30 years and 266 days old. An age which, according to scientists, however, should be "in-depth", since, if compared to that of a human being, it would correspond to 200 years.

What also raises suspicion is an image from 1999, where Bobi's paws appear to have a different color than those seen in another photo , taken last May 11th on the occasion of a party organized by Costa, precisely to celebrate his dog's 31st birthday, together with numerous friends, relatives and people arriving from abroad.

Contacted by the press regarding the doubts expressed by the veterinarians, Costa did not want to make any statements.
