Alarm in Auckland, New Zealand, for a man who, armed with a knife, hit several people. A woman, who was in Murrays Bay and was walking with the dog, noticed a man on the shore approaching her and, thinking he wanted to talk to her, took off her cell phone earphones. Then she saw that she was holding a large knife in her hands and fled to the nearby sailing club. Meanwhile, the man started running towards Beach Rd. The police, intervened on the spot, tracked him down and arrested him.

Waitematā District Police Commander Superintendent Naila Hassan explained that four people were stabbed in "random" and "isolated" attacks . The perpetrator was a local and the wounded sustained minor injuries. "It was a random attack and there was no indication that it was a hate crime," he added.
