Attack in Mozambique on the community of Comboni nuns of Chipene: an Italian nun, Maria De Coppi , was killed.

The attack took place around 9 pm last night, neither the perpetrators nor the precise circumstances are yet known.

There is concern for many other religious: the Concordia Pordenone Missionary Center, for example, gave news of his two on Facebook: “Don Lorenzo and Don Loris are alive. We thank God ”, the post.

“The rebels - the Missionary Center said - attacked the mission, setting fire to all the parish works . All the survivors are now fleeing to Nacala ”.

Maria De Coppi, an 83-year-old from Treviso, had been in Mozambique for 63: "According to the news received - explains the diocesian weekly 'L'Azione' on the web - it seems that the murder was perpetrated by some terrorists who acted in the mission where Sister Maria served, in the Muatala barrio, in the province of Nampula ”.

Thus the victim described the situation in Mozambique: “The last two years have been very hard. In the north of the country there is a war over gas fields and people are suffering and fleeing: in my parish there are 400 families who come from the war zone. Then came the cyclone. Finally, last year the drought lasted for a long time. Today in Nampula there is extreme poverty ”.
